When figuring out how much liquid to draw for an injection, you start by checking the total amount of medicine in the vial and how much liquid it’s mixed with. For example, if the vial has 10 milligrams (mg) of medicine in 1 milliliter (ml) of liquid, that means each milliliter contains 10 mg. To figure out how much liquid you need for your dose, divide the amount of medicine you need by how much medicine is in each milliliter. So, if your dose is 2 mg, divide 2 mg by 10 mg/ml, which equals 0.2 ml. That’s how much liquid you’ll draw into the syringe!
